Anaesthesia
The Section of Anaesthesia provides analgesia and anaesthesia for all animals being admitted to hospital for surgical and medical procedures.
In addition the section receives referrals of animals for anaesthesia that are considered at greater risk of anaesthetic complication or death.
In addition to providing routine pain management for in hospital patients, the section also consults on the pain management on an out-patient basis for animals that may require chronic pain management or for cases refractory to more routine methods of analgesia.
The section provides an anaesthetic service to a wide range of animal species including domestic species (dogs, cats, horses), pocket pets (rabbits, guinea pigs), farm animals and exotic species.
