Caring for Wildlife
Many of us instinctively recognise the savage beauty of a lion hunting its prey, the graceful leap of a gazelle, and the unique Australian native species that fill us with pride. Others marvel at the complex interdependency of our human, animal, and environmental ecosystems on a fragile planet. Scientific evidence demonstrates what we already know in our hearts — we are linked to these wild creatures, and that our survival depends on theirs.
The Murdoch University Wildlife and Conservation Medicine program provides education, collaborative relationships, and scientific advancements through research that will help Australia and the world deal with the current crisis of mass extinction. The multi-tiered program develops specialist wildlife veterinarians and researchers, educates practicing veterinarians for wildlife medicine, and educates the public about conservation issues. From preserving endangered wildlife populations and maintaining global biodiversity and environmental health, to safeguarding human health from wildlife diseases and pandemics, Murdoch University is protecting the fragile web of life that connects us all.
The Murdoch University Veterinary Trust is pleased to announce the development of the Caring for Wildlife Giving Program to research, care for, and educate people about our valuable native species and wildlife. The Caring for Wildlife Giving Program supports the care and rehabilitation of injured wildlife, provides on-going veterinary and public education about wildlife and conservation medicine, and finances much needed research that protects wildlife and native species.
Individuals and organisations that are passionate about wildlife and conservation medicine are invited to get involved, help raise funds, or make a donation to the Caring for Wildlife Giving Program to support this important work.
