Bonnie Slade

Oh Bonnie, your eyes, they saw into my heart and soul, so knowing and loving!

When you came to me you were only 18 months old, your eyes told me you had been troubled but soon those same eyes comforted me as we both grew to love and trust each other.

My little terrier, we had so many happy times over the more than 16 years we had together. We shared our worries and dreams, good and bad, but always smiled through. My Bonnie, you were as protective of me as I was of you.

Rest peacefully now my darling girl – all we shared was good and I am a better person for having had you in my life. I miss you so much – my Bonnie with the beautiful eyes.

Sincere thanks to my wonderful vet and staff at the Ranford Veterinary Hospital who treated Bonnie with such care and devotion. You all understand and above all – respected – my grief at the loss of my special Bonnie.

You saw that I’d grown frail and weak
And pain did keep me from my sleep
There was no more you should have done
For this last battle could not be won.

You will be sad, I understand.
Don’t let your grief take command
For this day, just like all the rest
Let our love and friendship stand the test

We’ve had so many happy years
For what has come I hold no fears.
You’d not want me to suffer, so
Now is the time that I must go.

I know in time you will see
My life with you could no longer be
Although my tail its last has waived
From pain and suffering I’ve been saved.

Don’t grieve that now my time is through
My life was full because of you
We’ve been so close, we two, these years
Don’t let your heart hold any tears.

Smile – for we walked together
For a little while.
