Montaigne Mitchell

31.10.2003 - 15.7.2009

At first you were a fast-moving fluff ball with over-sized ears.

Then you learnt how to paw-paint our walls with mud, drag our clothes down the passageway and reward us with head butts.

When your sister Minjah arrived you were put out, but it didn’t take long before you were again draping yourself across our shoulders as we tried to eat our meals.

And as it turned out, a pesky sibling would be the least of your problems.

Your little face was at the door when we came home from work, and it was your eyes that we saw before we switched off the bed-side lamp.

And even as the cancer took hold, and you grew weaker and weaker, it was your face at the door every night.

Monnie, you were there for us; we were there for you. We miss you.

May someone find a cure for cancer soon.

Special thanks to Dr. Michael Taylor from Mt Lawley & Inglewood Vet Centre for showing such care and compassion and to Michael and the team at Mt Lawley & Inglewood Vet Centre for the donation made to the Murdoch University Caring for Pets Fund in memory of Montaigne.
