My Triever

My Triever in a pet shop I found
Pedigree of Mulgagold Becker
Sire Aust Ch Goldtreve Dukes Son
Dam Mulgagold Patya
We named him Triever

By a song we call him
Triever Triever Triever Triever Triever
f s f d s f f s f d l d l
Good good boy Good good boy Good good boy Good boy Good boy
f s f d s f f s f d l d l
The first sound he recognizes is good boy
He has learnt English in his mother’s womb in Australia

A baby so cute and growing fast
Caught a heavy coughing episode and saved by doctor
And my feeding him sardine and shrimp jelly
In adolescence his feet are slender, hair sparse
But in young adulthood he is a prince, my Triever

A tick got him and I pinch it off with forceps
Consoling my little paled Triever
His first swim in the sea water, always towards me
He wade
Such a good dog what more could I say

As a true son of his father
He at two years of age was the Best Exhibit of Breed
And Championship First Prize twice
Rewarding my training him to stand up, heel, come and sit

In our lodging he was the first comer
Now our neighbours rear many kinds of canine
Among them Golden Retrievers
My Triever, for many years reigned, being the pioneer

Now he is ageing, yet with senior dog food he excelled
As a strong, sensible and respectable elder
He still climbs the slope and never falls
Yet not as agile when he ran to get tennis balls

Alas I nursed him when he did not so well
But he still enjoyed liver, cookies and fish jelly
Talcum powder keeps him prim and proper
With the help of diaper

Though blind, he turned to me when I sang him his song
Triever Triever Good dog Good dog

And kissed me twice, my love for him he returned
I can tell
Rest well Good dog my Triever
