Leonardo

17/10/99 - 11/08/05

We remember the first day we laid eyes on our beautiful little Leonardo (aka LeeLee, Mr Black, Gordon Grumps Mr Peabody).

It was Dec 1999....Our daughters Candi and Claudia, our older Cocker Spaniel Copper and I were laying in the lounge waiting for Dad to bring 'something' home. The girls didn’t know what and I kept them in suspense, until they heard Dad’s car pull up...what could it be....in came Jack through the door with a little black bundle in his arms. A tiny little Cocker spaniel who we instantly fell in love with...

LeeLee became a part of our family that day.

He followed Copper everywhere and snuggled up if anyone was sad. He would put his huge fluffy paw on you if you stopped patting him as if to say I haven't finished getting attention........

When fresh biscuits were put in his bowl he would want to stay out all day just to stop Arthur (one of our 3 cats) from stealing some.

When he and Copper got a bone each, Copper would run straight up the back to enjoy his and Leonardo would stand there barking at his so as to warn Copper away. In the meantime Copper would finish his and come back for LeeLee's amidst him trying to protect it instead of just eating it!! Talk about funny- that’s how he got the nickname Gordon Grumps...

His place to sleep at night was at the end of the bed between Jacks feet and he slept (and snored )all through the night flat on his back.

We put a pair of glasses on him one day and he just sat there so still and didn't try to flick them off, he looked so funny (and he knew it) giving him yet another nickname of Mr Peebody... he really was a character.

He was a gentle and loving boy, who loved cuddles and kisses. He was unassuming and quiet (all dog biscuits and bones aside) and he leaves us with so so many memories....

LeeLee died suddenly of heart failure on the 11th of August this year 2005 aged 5½.

Our feelings about how and why he died would be too hard to put into words.

Remembering how he lived helps us cope with the loss we feel.

Leonardo truly and completely gave us so much happiness, joy and most of all love and we miss our furbaby very much...

"Our beloved Leonardo - you left your paw prints all over our hearts"

Goodbye LeeLee, only for now, until we meet again on those green fields where you are playing...keep an eye out baby boy
