Zippy Hefferon
It has almost been a year since losing my beloved thorobred Zippy, after 23yrs. It is still hard to look at his pictures and not cry because I miss him so much.
It was a pleasure to have had all the years with him but I selfishly would have more if I could have. I still talk to him daily in the paddock where he is resting.
This photograph is of Zippy with our granddaughter Maile, he loved her cuddles and both girls loved riding him, spending weekends here with us and still do.
Here is a poem written by my granddaughter Sabre (not pictured). Zippy was truly and still is loved by us all forever.
FOR ZIPPY
A thousand bruises, a thousand scars
A thousand rides, a thousand falls
A thousand suns, a thousand stars
A thousand yells, a thousand calls
I've put in fence posts, pulled them out
I've swept up hay, hauled it round
I've gotten zapped by wire made to shout
I've calmed your friend alarmed by sound
Scars heal and bruises fade
Muscles stop aching, dirt washes away
Hay gets eaten, heat turns to shade
Tiredness leaves, night turns to day
These things, they will all go away
But my memories will always stay
And if you came back to me
I'd do it all again for you
I should be glad that now you're free
I know letting you go was right to do
