Truffles & Fluffy Gundry
OUR BABIES
TRUFFLES – DIED 23/8/2012 AND FLUFFY – DIED 17/11/2012 – BOTH AGED 17 YEARS
Truffles, as we walked around the RSPCA centre you warmed our hearts with your little ways, asking us to take you home, so we did. You were so affectionate one minute and mischievous the next, nipping at our ankles as we walked past you, totally fearless of anything. You were adorable, loving and just enjoyed sitting on our chest and would gently pat our face when we stopped stroking you, asking for more. You were just gorgeous. Three months on we felt you needed a companion so off to the RSPCA we went.
Fluffy, curled up in a terrified ball. The staff suggested we did not pick you up as you were very shy and nervous. Luckily for you and us we ignored their wishes and picked you up. I could hear you purring as you shook in my arms. We knew then where you belonged so we took you home. Several times we had to retrieve you from the chimney breast covered in soot, so we had to bath you, but you soon came to know that we meant you no harm. You warmed to us and were the most loving and affectionate little girl. You followed us around the house waiting for us to sit so you could curl up on our lap. You had a way that made us feel such emotion just full of love for you. You were just beautiful.
We relocated to Australia. Friends and family said we were fools to take you with us. They were the fools for not understanding the love that bonded us, you were our babies, our little girls, so at the age of ten years you relocated to Australia, all four of us, that was six years ago.
Gradually you both became tired, your eyes were growing dim and we had to come to terms that we were losing the only family we had. Saying goodbye was heartbreaking, holding you in our arms as we watched you slip away forever. No more cuddles, no more greetings when we come home, no more listening to your endless purring, just emptiness.
You were our little babies, our family. You came to us within three months of each other and you left us within three months of each other. While we cried we knew you needed to be with each other, that was how it was meant to be.
They say the only time an animal hurts you is when they die, how true that is. Our pain will stay for a long time, but your pain has ceased of which we are thankful. We said goodbye but we will meet again over the rainbow when the time is right. Until then we will never forget you, our babies, our little girls, missing you terribly. RIP Truffs and Fluffs
Expressions of thanks to Ranford Veterinary for their support and kindness and ensuring our little girls did not suffer.
Always in our hearts Mummy and Daddy Christine and Nigel Gundry
