Holly Garrett
August 1989 – Dec 25th 2006.
A tiny grey kitten tottered across my path, and without thinking I popped her in my bag and brought her home. Since we already had a cat I then had second thoughts and decided I should find someone else to take her. Twice she went and twice she came back. That decided it, so here she stayed, for 17 wonderful, memorable years.
Someone once said Holly thought she was human, and certainly she had no time for our other cat. She seemed to understand everything I said to her. She loved to be stroked and cuddled and would lick me in return. She always appeared intuitively just as I was wondering where she was. Even at night if I thought about her she would arrive at the bedroom door within minutes and demand to be let in.
Holly spent the day at my side as I wrote, then the rest of the time on my lap if she could. She was my constant companion, my dearest friend, my ‘mews’ and I will always miss her.
Our grateful thanks go to Dr Lloyd Kenda who looked after her for many years, and brought her back from the brink on more than one occasion. A wonderful, caring vet.
"With loving memories, Valery Garrett "
