Oscar Bartholomeusz

Oscar, you came into our lives as a birthday present to your mum in 1999. Your mum, always being a cat lover, was taken by surprise at first but soon loved you more than anything in the world. It didn’t take you long to rule the house with your cheeky ways and your love of golf balls quickly grew into an obsession. Not long after this you got your first gumma disc and it was destiny, as you never went without a gumma by your side (in your mouth) for the rest of your life.

You were with us through some tough times but you never wavered in your loyalty to us and it was always funny how you used to know who started any arguments and always took the side of whoever was in the right. When we moved back to Pemberton you were in heaven as your love for water is known far and wide. Especially for the Pemby Pool where the temperature didn’t matter - you were in there in a flash, even if it was just to get those stupid honkey nuts that kept rolling in all by themselves. It was in Pemberton that you had one of your flings and as a result Coco was born. I will never forget the way you selected him out from the other puppies, proud as punch. You where a shed legend and could keep anyone entertained with your gumma teasing and endless tricks.

When we moved to Busselton it was a whole new world with the beach down the road, our first boat and lots of fishing and crabbing which we all loved except for you putting the fish back in the water! It was not long after that you saw your mum and dad get married and you and Coco were the best men, and shortly after, along came your brother Jack who I really wish had got to grow up some more before you left us.

I love you so much big boy. You were more than a best mate, you are everything to me and I still think of you as soon as I wake. You are the last thing I think of every night, everything I do and every where I look reminds me of you, or something that we did together. I deeply miss waking up with you under my arm every morning and our drives in the car when you used to back in like a marron and sleep for hours on my lap, I try to think of all the good times, like seeing you getting love off your mum in the mornings and our little cuddles on the couch and the gumma games of course which nobody else quite understood except for you and me. Your mumma nearly had it worked out but the throws always let her down, hey Big Horse.

Then there is Coco who has never known a world without you and misses you very much. He still looks around to see if you have finished your dinner and looks for you in all your favourite spots. Nothing can ever replace you but I have to learn to remember the good times we all had together.

Best mates for ever Oscar, you are always at the pool now mate.
