VLS Announcements 026 - 27 February 2015

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to issue 026 of our weekly announcements.

This week was O-week and saw our Student Advisors hard at work.  The VLS Orientation sessions took place over 2 days this week where the Advisors aim was for the students to find out who they were and how they could help them; to meet and talk to other new students and to help them feel confident and ready to start university.  There was a big turnout both days and it was a huge success thanks to our Mentors, Student Associations and Volunteers who engaged with the students and helped with the smooth running of the event.  The Advisors have had high numbers of enquiries following the sessions which indicates that our core message of knowing the Student Advisor team and asking for help has been clear.  Thanks also to the Academic Chairs for their breakout sessions and to the Academic and Professional staff who attended the O-Day morning teas and mingled with the students.

Submissions can be made by emailing VLS@murdoch.edu.au by COB each Friday for publication the following Friday.

Warm wishes,

David Hampson.
