Doctor of Veterinary Medical Science (DVetMedSc)

What is the Doctor of Veterinary Medical Science

The Doctor of Veterinary Medical Science is an intensive three year professional research degree. The degree consists of coursework and applied research leading to a thesis. The first year involves coursework totalling 24 points. By the end of first year, students will have developed a research project in conjunction with their supervisors. The final four semesters (48 points) involve undertaking the research project which will culminate with the writing of a thesis which makes a significant contribution to the knowledge on Veterinary Science. This thesis will be assessed through examination by examiners external to the university.

The degree can be undertaken in full time or part time mode and can be taken internally with students attending Murdoch University or externally. Internet access is required for students studying externally.

Applicants for this professional degree must have a veterinary degree. This degree can be from any veterinary school, college or faculty in the world. Applicants must have evidence of research training eg a research honours degree, research masters degree, or evidence of research through one or more peer reviewed publications.
