Outline for the day...

“Mine’s a flat white” – anaemia in companion animal practice

What causes non-regenerative anaemia and what are the latest advances in managing such cases? In this session we provide a refresher about the pathophysiology and causes of anaemia in animals, together with discussions around challenging cases encountered in general practice.

"What cell is that?” – cytology refresher

Cytology is a skill that we should be using every day in our practice, but so often there are cells we just don’t recognise! In this session Sue Beetson will bring cytology to life in a practical and entertaining way.

“All about kidneys” – advances in renal diagnosis

Many of our patients present with azotaemia and some of these have renal insufficiency . This session will cover all aspects of the diagnosis of kidney disease, including a review of the latest diagnostic tests available.

Workshops

  1. Haematology Workshop
  2. Cytology Workshop
  3. How to collect bone marrow aspirate

This all-afternoon practical class will hone your skills in microscopy diagnosis of blood diseases, lumps and bumps, and make blood and bone marrow smears to be proud of!
