Outline for the day...

Bone marrow laboratory report: how to interpret it?

Bone marrow samples are often sent to referring laboratories for expert interpretation. In this session we provide an overview of bone marrow changes to better understand the information provided by pathologists

Lymph node enlargement: what is going wrong?

Lymph node enlargement is a common finding in clinical practice. Cytology can provide a real-time answer about the underlying cause. In this session we provide insights about cytological differences between hyperplasia, infection and neoplasia.

Anaemia from a clinical pathology perspective

Laboratory data results combined with the morphology can help to reduce the differentials in case of anaemia. In this session we provide suggestions to enhance laboratory data interpretation skills.

Tricks to prepare bone marrow cytology specimens

Bone marrow cytology can be frustrating due to inconclusive results secondary to haemodilution of samples. This practical class has been designed to make practice with bone marrow cytology specimen preparation. Practical tricks will be suggested to have more diagnostic samples.

Workshops

  1. Bone Marrow Cytology Features
  2. Lymph node cytology from hyperplasia to neoplasia
  3. Regenerative or non-regenerative anaemia?

This all-afternoon practical class will hone your skills in microscopic diagnosis of blood, bone marrow and lymph node
