School of
Veterinary and
Life Sciences

In Perth, at Murdoch University, over 400 of Australia’s brightest students are pursuing a lifelong dream; to become a vet. This compelling new series follows the lives of eight of those young hopefuls at one of the most important moments in their career.

The 5th year students are coming to the end of the gruelling course and the time has come for them to be unleashed onto the busy wards of the school’s state-of-the-art teaching hospital. Chris, Megan, Erin, Susie, Berit and Steph are faced with a crash course in every medical and emotional hurdle a vet may face in a whole career. From critical operations to distraught owners and front line emergency services, where split second decisions can mean the difference between life and death.

Meanwhile, the 4th year students are facing the year from hell. They have to endure over 70 hours of class-work, assignments and study every week. For Pete and Jade the pressure is telling. Pete seeks counselling for his stress and Jade doesn’t have the stomach for the practicals. Fail and they face repeating an entire year.
