Women’s Self- Identities and their Identity Creation Practices

Description: In Western society, the body has become a self-identity project. Women are encouraged to modify their bodies through appearance-based practices to create a visual representation of their identities. Currently, there is a significant lack of empirical research exploring the lived experience of women. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate how women make sense of appearance-related choices to explore why women refrain from making particular appearance choices in everyday life.
