School of Psychology and Exercise Science

Welcome to the School of Psychology and Exercise Science

The School of Psychology and Exercise Science prepares students for careers in the mental and physical health sectors. We offer a range of accredited undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Psychology, Exercise Physiology and Sports Science. We are pleased to announce that from 2017, we will be offering two new, simplified degree structures designed to allow students to complete an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited qualification by simply completing a major in “Psychology” without the need for additional units or minors.

The School places great importance in looking at the social and cultural context in which psychology is studied. We are active in research, with well-established programs of research in cognitive, developmental, physiological, clinical, organisational and social aspects of psychology.

Our vision is to be recognised as the leading sports science institution for academic, clinical and research excellence. To help achieve this we constructed a $4 million, 900sqm sports science facility, which contains labs for biomechanics, exercise physiology, conditioning and rehabilitation. The facility also houses a performance lab complete with a 50m running track, a 14m by 4m screen for projecting life-size simulations and biomechanical imaging, plus a thermal chamber that can raise the temperature to above 55 degrees Celsius.
