Family Law and Family Violence Assistance at SCALES

Family Law Information

SCALES run forums on Family Law that are accredited by the Family Court and are run regularly in Rockingham and Kwinana. They are run with the intention of helping people find alternatives ways of resolving their issues rather than having to go to court. They also provide assistance with the court processes for people who have to go to court. In addition, attending a SCALES forum in Rockingham and Kwinana exempts you from having to attend one in Perth.

For more information about this service please contact the SCALES clinic at (08) 9550 0400 during business hours.

Family Violence

SCALES has a designated family violence solicitor to assist people in situations of domestic or family violence in areas such as court representation for clients seeking a violence restraining order, as well as issues arising from domestic violence such as criminal injuries compensation, child custody and housing. SCALES is able to provide initial advice and referrals on these matters to clients.

In an emergency and if you fear for the safety of yourself or your children, telephone 000 and ask for the Police, or refer to the Police Domestic Violence Resource and Referral Centre.

If, at any time, you need urgent advice or information, telephone the Crisis Care Unit on 9325 1111 or, for country callers, telephone 1800 199 008. This is a 24 hour service.

Men can access the 24 hour Men's Domestic Violence Helpline for advice on 9223 1199 or, for country callers, Freecall 1800 000 599.

Funding for our domestic violence services comes from the Department for Community Development and from the WA Attorney General’s Office.
