Chief Justice

Liam Nicholls is studying a double degree in Law and Commerce, majoring in Human Resource Management. Liam has competed in several Murdoch competitions, including the negotiations competition and the torts, junior, senior and Magistrates Court moots. Liam's team was runner up in the 2010 Murdoch Invitational Mediation Tournament. With his teammate (Oralee Logan) Liam won the 2010 McCusker Trial Advocacy Competition. In 2011 Liam was a member of the runner-up team in the International ADR Moot in Hong Kong and won best oralist in the grand final. In joining MCB, Liam hopes to encourage as many students as possible to get involved in competitions. Outside of university, Liam enjoys anything music related - whether it is listening, creating or performing.

Excutive Justice

Molly Greenfeld is in her second year of a Bachelor of Laws. Molly first became interested in advocacy in 2010, when she entered the Corrs Chambers Westgarth Junior Trial Advocacy Competition. In the beginning of her second year, she entered the Freehills Senior Mooting Competition and reached the Grand Final. Also during that semester Molly entered and won the Blake Dawson Trial Advocacy Competition. As a result she represented Murdoch at the ALSA Witness Examination Championship in 2011. Molly aspires to become a member of an International Moot Team during her time at Murdoch. Outside of University, Molly’s main passion is travelling overseas and plans to next visit Canada or Turkey.

Jonathon Horne is currently in his third year of a combined LLB/BA (Politics and International Studies). He became interested in mooting by competing in Torts Moot and this interest was further developed by Senior Mooting in second year. More recently Jonathon has participated in the International Air and Space Law Moot Court Competition. He hopes that Moot Court Bench will provide an opportunity to show other students the benefits of mooting in addition to the obvious benefits of gaining practise in advocacy.

Outside of University Jonathon plays bassoon (the lowest woodwind instrument) in a range of ensembles including the Western Australian Youth Orchestra, a wind quintet and the Armadale City Concert Band. Although Jon does not get a lot of free time what little he does get is spent with family, friends and reading as many books as possible

Associate Justice

Veronica Burns  is currently in her third year of a Bachelor of Laws. She has competed in a variety of MSLS and MCB competitions including mooting, client interview and trial advocacy. Veronica was the 2010 Junior Trial Advocacy winner and, with Alex McVey, was the runner up in the 2011 McCusker Trial Advocacy Competition. Veronica has joined the Moot Court Bench to improve her advocacy skills and encourage others to enter competitions. Outside of university Veronica enjoys playing Tennis and Netball..

Elyse Fernandez is currently in her third year of a Bachelor of Laws. She first took an interest in mooting when she competed in the Torts moot in her first year, progressing to the semi-finals. In her second year she competed in senior mooting and also competed in the semi-finals. Elyse enjoys getting involved in the many competitions Murdoch has to offer also competing in junior and senior client interview and negotiations. In her spare time this year Elyse is working and saving all she has for her Europe trip mid this year. She will be studying in Macerata, Italy for a month and then plans to travel Europe for 4 weeks after.

HanWill Goodheart is in his final year of his Law degree. Will has competed in a range of university competitions, including Negotiations (runner up 2010 and 2011, ALSA representative), Client Interview (runner up 2010, winner 2011) and Junior Mooting. He sees being on the Moot Court Bench as a fantastic opportunity to further develop his advocacy and writing skills. Outside of his studies Will is a keen basketball player and enjoys playing the guitar.

Benjamin Holloway  is in his penultimate year of a double degree in Law and Commerce. Benjamin with his teammate won last year’s Negotiations competition. Ben was also a grand-finalist in last year’s Trial Advocacy competition and a semi-finalist in last year’s Senior Mooting competition and the McCusker Trial Advocacy competition. In 2012, Ben was also elected on the Murdoch Law School Board. Outside of university he is an avid Fremantle Dockers fan.

James Illichis currently in his first year of a Juris Doctor. In 2011, he was a grand finalist in the inaugural Murdoch Magistrate’s Court Moot competition and a semi-finalist in the Mallesons Stephen Jaques Junior Client Interview competition. James firmly believes that advocacy training enhances legal skills through applying theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. James spends his spare time with family and friends.

Victoria Oh is in her fourth year of a combined Law/Mass Communications (Public Relations) degree. She recently returned from Hong Kong where she attained a Postgraduate Certificate in Murdoch University’s Chinese Law Programme. In 2010 she, along with her partner, won the Allens Arthur Robson Senior Client Interview Competition and went on to represent Murdoch University in the national ALSA Client Interview competition. Victoria’s interest in advocacy at Murdoch was sparked when she reached the semi-finals of the McCusker Evidence Trial Advocacy Competition with fellow MCB-er Benjamin Holloway. Outside of university, Victoria enjoys spending time with friends, playing guitar and reading.

Carmel Proudfoot   is currently in her third year of a double degree in Law and History. Her interest in mooting began when she competed in the 2010 Torts Moot. Since then she has competed in Senior Mooting and was a semi-finalist in the 2011 McCusker Trial Advocacy competition (with partner Ahshiba Sultana). Carmel is currently a member of Murdoch's 2012 International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot team. Carmel believes mooting is important as it helps students develop practical skills and would like to see all students give it a shot.

Isabella Skuthorp  is in her penultimate year of a double degree of Law and Mass Communications. Isabella was selected for the 2008 International Maritime Law & Arbitration Moot, and was a Semi-Finalist in the MSLS Junior Mooting Competition. Outside of university Isabella hopes to further herself by learning Mandarin.

Patrick Williams is in his fourth year of a double degree in Law and Economics. He has competed in a plethora of competitions whilst at university, such as mooting, negotiations and trial advocacy. In 2011, Patrick also won the Allens Arthur Robinson Senior Client Interview competition. Patrick is also the Social Vice-President of the Murdoch Student Law Society. He continues his role as an Associate Justice of the Moot Court Bench with the hope improving his mooting and advocacy skills, as well as encouraging the promotion of a mooting culture within the Law School. Outside of university life, Patrick enjoys music, sports and letting his ego write cheques his body cannot cash.

Liz Wreck is in her fourth year studying BA Law/Politics and International Studies. Liz has competed in Client Interview, Trial Advocacy (Runner up McCusker 2010 with Vlada Lemaic) and Mooting (Senior Mooting, grand finalist in Torts Moot 2009). Liz is enthusiastic about advocacy and took advantage of Murdoch Law School’s competitions early on in her studies. Liz has decided to join MCB, with an aim to encourage students to take up the challenge and learn to develop a practical approach to problem solving outside of the lecture theatre. Outside of university Liz is a singer/songwriter and performs in various Perth venues regularly.

Sam Harper joins the Moot Court Bench in his fourth year of study at Murdoch. He is studying a dual Law and Commerce degree majoring in Management. Sam is also a regular competitor in MSLS competitions winning Junior Trial Advocacy in his first year and the McCusker Trial Advocacy competition in 2011 while annually competing in Junior Mooting/Senior Mooting, Client Interview and Negotiations Competitions. He has also represented Murdoch in the Tri-Law Negotiations competition. Outside of study and competing Sam enjoys movies, video games and fine pub cuisine.
