Mooting with Murdoch School of Law
Murdoch School of Law usually take part in the following moots either on a yearly or two yearly basis (depending on when the competitions are held).
1. Philip C. Jessup Public International Law Moot Court Competition
Australian Qualifying Rounds are held in Canberra each year in February.
International Rounds are held in Washington D.C. each year in March/April.
The Murdoch team for 2013 consisted of 5 students, Lorraine Finlay (Faculty Advisor), Ryan van der Merwe (Coach) and Andrew Mason (Assistant Coach). The Murdoch Team finished in the Top 8 in the World, this was a fantastic effort from the team.
2. Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot Court Competition
The International Rounds are held in Vienna each year in March/April, often with a pre-moot competition in Europe immediately before the international rounds commence.
The Murdoch team for 2013 consisted of four students, Phil Evans (Team Coach) and Vlada Lemaic (Assistant Coach).
We traditionally enter this competition every second year.
3. International Law School Mediation Tournament
This competition was held in Dublin from 12-17 March, 2013. It is an annual tournament that is held in Chicago every second year, and a changing overseas location in alternate years. The Murdoch team for 2013 consisted of 3 students and Lorraine Finlay (Team Coach).
4. International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot
The 2013 competition is being held in Southampton, England from 8-12 July. It is held in a different venue each year.
The Murdoch team for 2013 consists of 4 students, Samantha Lord (Team Coach) and Brad Hill (Assistant Coach).
