Message from the Director

Murdoch University is now an accredited Quality Assured provider of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities for the legal profession. The CPD system commenced in Western Australia on 1 July 2008, with compliance to be certified to the Legal Practice Board for the practice year commencing 1 July 2009. Under this system, certified legal practitioners must earn a minimum of 10 CPD Points in each CPD period across three competency areas, namely legal skills and practice, values, and legal knowledge.

Murdoch Law School’s CPD programme aims to provide activities across all of the three competency areas. The programme includes the courses offered within the School's Graduate Certificate of Chinese Law programme, which is delivered at City University of Hong Kong.

The School's CPD programme will also provide seminars on a range of legal topics, presented by Murdoch academic staff, and guests from across Australia and internationally. The School organises new seminars on a regular basis, and I encourage any interested practitioners to join our CPD mailing list so that they can be informed of new CPD seminars and activites as they become available.

Dr Michelle Evans
Director, Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
