Collaboration Clinical Educators and Supervisors

Welcome to the School of Health Professions at Murdoch University. The participation and contribution of a Clinical Nurse Facilitator and Clinical Supervisor who facilitates student nursing practice is extremely valuable and a necessary requirement to allow nursing students the opportunity for continual growth and development within the profession. The role expectation of the Clinical Nurse Facilitator, supervising nursing students while on clinical practice, covers four principal areas including:

  • Student Supervision
  • Supervisor/Mentor Support
  • Ensure compliance with MUSHP Administrative and Regulation Requirement
  • Development and Support of MUSHP/Health Agency Relationships

Clinical Nurse Facilitators employed by the School of Health Professions will possess the following qualifications:

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife with AHPRA;
  • Significant clinical experience in area of speciality;
  • Demonstrated competence both as a clinician and facilitator (eg. Organisational core competencies, staff development, professional references);
  • Previous experience and ability to supervise undergraduate students;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NMBA National Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse (2006);
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NMBA National Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse (2016);
  • Undertaken a supervisor/mentor program, (preferred);
  • Postgraduate specialty and/or educational qualifications (preferred).
