The Power Engineering Lab

The Power Engineering Lab consists of several workstations containing both electrical machines and power electronics modules. These modules consist of DC and AC power supplies (single and three phase), resistive, inductive and capacitive loads, single phase and three phase transformers, DC machines, single phase and three phase induction and synchronous AC machines. These modules are mostly used by the students in their 3rd and 4th years’ of the BEng degree. The Engineering and Energy Lab facilities include:

  • 25 kW PV array simulator for inverter and maximum power point tracker (MPPT) tests,
  • Configurable 4.5 kW PV array
  • Battery test facilities
