WA Working with Children Clearance

All students are required to provide a Working With Children Check from the WA Department of Communities - Child Protection and Family Support (formerly the Department for Child Protection and Family Support) before they can undertake a professional experience placement in a school or centre in WA. Students must be able to show their Working With Children Check card (or receipt) at any time during a professional experience placement in a WA school or centre. It is recommended that you start the application for the Working With Children Check at least three months prior to enrolling in a Professional Experience unit.

**NOTE: First year education students (undergraduate B.Ed and postgraduate M.Teach / GradDip (Secondary) students) will need to upload their Working With Children Check card or receipt to Sonia Online, under the 'Check' tab, once enrolled.

Working With Children Checks are valid for three years. Therefore, if you are enrolled in the four year Bachelor of Education program, you will need to renew your Working With Children Check. Please see below for more information.

Process for RENEWING a Working With Children Check

NOTE: If you are enrolled in the four year Bachelor of Education program, you will need to renew your Working With Children Check. Providing your information is current, you will receive an email reminder from the issuing authority three months before your Working With Children Check expires. The renewal process can be completed online OR in-person at an Australia Post Office. Please click here for more information about the Working With Children Check renewal process. You should re-apply at least one month before your Working With Children Check expires.
