Teaching Students with High Incidence Disabilities (3 Day Short Course)


Monday January 14, 2019 to Wednesday January 16, 2019

This three day course will provide an overview of the nature and characteristics of children with mild disabilities and examples of evidence-based practices and teaching strategies, specifically for children with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD);
  • Mild intellectual disabilities;
  • Learning disabilities;
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); and
  • Emotional or behavioural disorders.

Opportunities with E-Learning (5 Day Short Course)

Monday January 21, 2019 to Friday January 25, 2019

Five day professional learning opportunity for secondary educators.

Become digital educators by experiencing applications and mobile technologies, and update your knowledge of digital pedagogies with Murdoch School of Education's elearning Expert, A/Professor Dorit Maor.

The five day workshop will include:

  • A guest presentation from an international leading expert (currently leading the Catholic Education WA's Digitial Transformation for Teaching and Learning) - Dr Ginno Kelley (former Director, Teaching and Learning for Microsoft);
  • Cutting edge technology demonstrations, including mobile and Apps;
  • Hands-on activities, including how to create an eBook and use Creative Common material;
  • Updates on current eLearning theory and pedagogies; and
  • Instruction on digital applications to help learners become digital educators.

Some of the digital pedagogies covered will include:

  • Technology, Pedagogy and Content Knowledge (TPACK)
  • The Teaching Integration Matrix (TIM)
  • Reading, Reflecting Displaying and Doing (R2D2)
  • Deep Learning - 21st Century Skills.

Teaching the Arts - Primary to Year 10 (3 Week Short Course)

Monday February 4, 2019 to Friday February 22, 2019

The three week course program will provide:

  • Opportunities to get into the detail of the syllabus – crunching the syllabus;
  • Curriculum unpacking – de-coding the Arts Syllabus and putting this into context. Each day will start by unpacking the curriculum;
  • Intensive focus on one Arts subject for one session each day – choose from DRAMA or MEDIA ARTS - focusing on year level and content for P-6 with specific teaching, planning and assessment strategies; and
  • Extension focus on three other Arts subjects or Arts Integration - choose one extension workshop each day from Visual Arts / Dance / Drama / Media Arts / Music / Integrated Arts - Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM)

Cost: $660.00 (inc GST) (includes morning tea daily)
