Mentoring - 5 day summer school

Jan 16th to 20th 2017 - 9am to 3pm

This 5 day course explores conceptual issues and practical matters surrounding mentoring in various educational, community and workplace settings as a strategy relevant to all ages.

Upon completion, all particpants will receive a certification of participation, which can contribute towards AITSL’s (Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership) Standard 6: Professional Engagement.

Topics include:

  • the concept of mentoring and assumptions underlying it;
  • different models of mentoring and applications;
  • essential elements of effective mentoring relationships; and
  • features of effective mentoring programs.

Cost:

  • FREE for teachers with experience in mentoring Murdoch education students (and for those interested). NOTE: Upon submission of assessments (optional), advanced standing may be granted towards the Masters of Education (Coursework) – fees will apply
  • $750.00 for others (non-Murdoch student)
  • Normal unit fees apply for Murdoch students wishing to do this short course as part of  EDN671 (enrol via MyUnits)

1. Professional Development

Enrol in the unit on an ‘audit’ basis which means you don’t do the assessment and cannot claim credit for this unit should you study at Murdoch in the future.

This option is offered at NO COST and includes a study guide and course reader.

2. Professional Development Course with Advanced Standing (NEDN671)

Enrol on a “Not for Degree” basis and complete all assessments of the unit.

This means that if you choose to study at Murdoch University at a later time (for the Masters of Education), the unit can be accredited to your academic record and you will receive advanced standing, as this unit forms part of the Master of Education (Coursework) structure, details of which can be found here http://www.murdoch.edu.au/Courses/Master-of-Education/

3. Enrol as a student currently in a postgraduate course

Students currently enrolled at Murdoch University in the

  • Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) (GradDipEd); or
  • Graduate Diploma in Education (Tertiary and Adult) (GradDipEd); or
  • Master of Education (Coursework) (MEd)

The usual Fee Pay arrangements apply.

4. Enrol as a Cross Institutional student

Students should arrange this through their home institution to ensure they receive credit for this unit on their transcript.
