Associate Professor Rob Trengove

Node leader for the Murdoch Node of Metabolomics Australia.

Rob Trengove has pioneered the development of MS-based metabolomics techniques for more than 20 years, collaborating with Australian and International researchers and industry. He currently leads a team of more than 15 researchers working on a diverse range of topics including HIV/AIDs, iron disorders, desalination, microalgae lipidomics, fungal and bacterial metabolomics. Rob Trengove has published more than 60 high-impact journal articles and has ongoing commercial contract research arrangements with major industry players in the petrochemical, clinical and animal health pharmaceutical sector.

PhD in Biomedical Science

Graduated from Murdoch University with a PhD in Biomedical Science, working on neglected diseases and drug development. He brings considerable experience in early-stage research commercialisation and IP management to the group and has been involved in the formation of a number of Murdoch University spin-off companies including Spirogene Pty Ltd. He is currently the Operations Manager for the Separation Science and Metabolomics Laboratory.

 

Dr Garth Maker - Image

Dr Garth Maker

PhD in Biochemistry

Graduated from Murdoch University with a PhD in Biochemistry, working on neonatal respiratory distress syndrome using a variety of mass spectrometry detection systems. His research revealed the presence of a signalling protein that can potentially pave the way for new treatment options. Dr Maker is currently a Lecturer in pharmaceutical chemistry and works closely with the Separation Science Laboratory by applying a variety of GC, HPLC, GC/LC-MS and FTICR-MS techniques to investigate human and animal biochemistry and physiology.

Ms Fay Bahemia
Quality Assurance Manager

Ms Fay Bahemia brings decades of proven QA experience to SSML. She has played critical roles in the achieving of accreditation for GMP facilities via the TGA as well as the registration of new pharmaceutical and therapeutic goods. She is critical for implementing systems in compliance with the laboratory's NATA ISO17025:2005 accreditation.
