Murdoch student wins WA Youth Award
Murdoch University psychology Honours student Jane Genovese has been awarded a 2009 WA Youth Award.
Ms Genovese was recognised in the environment category in the awards, handed out by the Department for Communities’ Office for Youth earlier this month, for her work in climate change by creating a range of accessible mind-maps exploring the global issue.
Her mind-maps have been posted to climate change organisations such as Al Gore's Live Earth team.
Ms Genovese, who last year completed her law degree at Murdoch, said it was her undergraduate course which helped her discover her passion for the environment.
“It really has become my life's work,” Ms Genovese said.
Her passion has extended to giving talks to the community on climate change aimed at inspiring and empowering people to take action to prevent climate change.
She will complete her thesis on public reactions to hypothetical climate change policies this year.
