Meet our team

Simon Walters  

Health Service Manager

Simon is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with over 20 years’ experience, initially working in England, he moved to Australia in 2007. 
His experience is in a range of specialist health areas and through a passion for providing high quality client centred services, has led several services to state and nationally recognised projects in both the UK and Australia. 

When not at work Simon enjoys spending time with his family, listening to music and watching live bands.

Lisa Cranfield

Nurse Team Leader

Lisa is a local graduate in Nursing with over 20 years’ experience in the health sector both locally and internationally. Lisa has enjoyed a varied career in both regional and remote area nursing in Western Australian hospitals and nursing posts. With a keen sense of adventure Lisa has also worked overseas in medical assistance roles as a medical coordinator and as a flight nurse for medical patient retrievals and evacuations. In 2010 Lisa spent some time in Costa Rica and Nicaragua with the global youth development charity Raleigh International, here she  worked as a lead medic and project manager on health and sustainability projects.  Lisa has a passion for public and international health and is committed to helping people make positive life choices in order to reach their potential.

Andrea Manason

University Nurse

Andrea is originally from Canada and has been in Australia since 2012. Having graduated from nursing in Canada, Andrea brings with her 16 years’ health sector experience across fields such as acute medicine, surgical and intensive care as well as public health.  Andrea has a passion for nursing education and preventative health issues and is currently advancing her qualifications by working on her masters in clinical nursing with a focus on nursing education.  When not at work, Andrea enjoys spending time with her four children and husband as well as travelling abroad and exploring Australia.

Jann Louw

University Nurse

Jann is a West Australian local with a passion for travel. After graduating from her nursing studies Jann spent many years working and travelling through Europe and Africa gaining valuable international health experience. Jann lived in South Africa for many years where she specialised in both community and industrial health; this experience has enabled Jann to develop a broad knowledge base in community health issues as well as preventative health care.  Jann has a keen interest in wound care and management, immunisation, sports medicine and nutrition as well as wholistic wellbeing.  In her spare time Jann enjoys keeping fit with boot camp, walking and cycling, dining, entertaining, arts and crafts.

Ashley Peacock

Administration Officer

Ashley commenced working as an administrative officer for Murdoch University Health in May 2016.

Ashley comes to the service with a wealth of experience in medical administration, inclusive of practice management for a busy occupational medicine centre in the Perth metro area as well as regional work in general practice in Broome.  Ashley’s exceptional customer service skills have been shaped by her experience of patient and client care within the mining, oil and gas industry.
In her spare time, Ashley can be found enjoying quality time with her young family as well as outdoor activities such as fishing, camping and the beach.

Dr Peter Burke

Doctor

Dr Peter Burke is a local graduate with thirty years’ experience in general practice. He has done a bit of everything over this time including ten years of remote and rural medicine in the North-West. Dr Burke has a special interest in Travel Medicine, Occupational Health, and Men's Sexual Health.

Outside Murdoch University, he works in general practice, has his own specialist Travel Medicine clinic Ulysses Medical in Nedlands, and does sessions at the Keogh Institute for Men's Sexual Health at QEII. Outside of work, he is a writer of historical fiction, with a previous novel shortlisted for the Vogel and WA Premier's awards, and a new book about C.Y. O'Connor coming out in 2016.

Dr Derek Scurry

Dr Derek Scurry is a locally based GP with extensive experience in family medicine. His interests include men’s health, mental health and general preventative health for all ages.

Dr Scurry combines his work in general practice with an interest in Orthopaedics, practicing in a surgical assist role.  When not at work, Dr Scurry enjoys spending time with his family.

Dr Beverly Day

Dr Day has worked for many years in general practice in Western Australia as well as some time in family planning clinics in NSW. Dr Day is a long standing member of the team here at Murdoch, having been here since 2010.

Dr Days professional interests include; family planning, contraception inclusive of implanon insertion and removal, sexual health, women’s health, pap smears and obstetric/antenatal care to 20 weeks gestation and mental health.

Dr Whitaker is a locally trained GP with extensive experience in family and women’s health in particular which she combines with her work at King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women.

Other areas of interest include, sexual and reproductive health, pre and post-natal care, contraception, mental health, family and general health.

Dr Stefanie Bracknell

Dr Bracknell is a family GP with additional skills and experience in tropical medicine and travel health. Dr Bracknell’s professional interests include, family, child and women’s health, as well as travel health both pre departure prevention and post return illness.

Dr Bracknell has worked both locally in regional and remote area’s as well as in the UK as a GP and in Africa in the international aid sector.  Dr Bracknell is also able to perform dive medicals for student/ staff wishing to become recreational divers.

Su Lin Wan

Doctor

Dr Su Lin Wan is a registered general practitioner (RACGP) and medical acupuncturist with The Australian Medical Acupuncture College since 2010 having trained in Perth Sydney and Japan.

Murdoch University Health provides workshops, led by Dr Wan in acupuncture guided meditation. The workshops help promote mindful wellbeing practice for the University community.

Dr Wan has been meditating for 15 years. She is a certified instructor of Master Liu De Ming, Fifth generation linage holder of the Ziran Qigong tradition.

Qigong incorporates a range of practices, primarily cultivating the body, breath and mind. This has been a vital part of Chinese culture and medicine for over 2000 years. This is the foundation from which Dr Wan teaches meditation in conjunction with acupuncture to experience the benefits of relaxation.
