Simon’s Profile

Dr Simon Minaee is the Director of the Murdoch University MasterClass Program and is a Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour. He has over 20 years teaching experience in the fields of Leadership, Management, International Business and Language Development. Before working in Australia, he set-up and ran both a language school and a management consultancy in Indonesia.

His core research interests include Shared Leadership and Small Group Creativity. He has also published in areas including Emotional Contagion in the Workplace and International Relations. Much of his current research involves the study of group learning processes and team interaction.

Con's Profile

Con Abbott joined MasterClass in 2014 and teaches MBS5392 ‘Accounting for Managers’. For Con, an understanding of accounting is critical to financial literacy. In 2014, Con partnered with PricewaterhouseCoopers to host the MasterClass ‘Chief Financial Officer’ forum, providing students with practical insights into the functioning of the CFO role and the critical importance of accounting in all professional organisations.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1980; Con’s career as an accountant has involved the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. His professional experience includes work in auditing, corporate regulation, accounting & finance; business development and relationship management. A Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CAANZ), Con joined the Western Australian Council of CAANZ in 2014 following a longstanding engagement with this professional body as both a volunteer and General Manager between 2000 and 2008. In recent years, Con has worked as an academic in accounting and auditing at Murdoch University, the University of Western Australia and Notre Dame University.

Con Abbott is a passionate Western Australian and an advocate for an influential ‘State’ voice at the Federal level.

Dr Ingrid O'Brien

Ingrid's Profile

Dr Ingrid O’Brien is a member of the Marketing Discipline at Murdoch University and teaches Strategic Marketing Management for the MasterClass program. Dr Ingrid O’Brien earned her PhD from the University of Western Australia, and completed a Masters in Marketing. Prior to joining Murdoch University, Ingrid taught the MBA programme at Curtin University. Ingrid also teaches in the area of International Marketing at the Undergraduate level.
Ingrid also comes to the MasterClass program with over 20 years international

marketing strategy and consulting experience. Having worked in Australia, UK, Europe, USA and China, she is experienced in a variety of industries such as financial services, not-for-profit, resources, professional services, healthcare, retail, agriculture, government, online marketing and education.
Her research interests are focused on customer engagement, CSR, social marketing, as well as blended learning.
Ingrid is also a Board member of West Australian Opera.

Warren ReadWarren Read

Warren is a Human Resources Management (HRM) and Organisation Performance & Development (OP&D) practitioner and consultant with over 25 years experience in organisations ranging from large multi-nationals to major government departments. He has worked extensively in these fields in both Australia and the United Kingdom and has designed and delivered both short courses and extended residential programs in a range of HRM and OP&D areas. He has Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA – University of Western Australia) and Software Programming (Msc IT – Glasgow University) and is Program Director and Facilitator for Murdoch Executive Education Centre programs.

Warren has facilitated the Leadership unit for the Masterclass program since 2008, as well as supporting other offerings of the unit locally and in Singapore
