On campus accommodation options

Student village accommodation gives you the advantage of living five minutes away from the library, lecturers, laboratories and lecture theatres. But living at Student Village offers many other advantages. Many of our graduates who have lived in the Student Village have told us that having lived in residence completes the University experience for them.

As its name implies, Student Village offers a friendly residential community within the larger campus. With over 530 resident students from many different backgrounds and cultures, living in the Village is a lifelong learning experience. It is a chance to make new friends, to take on responsibilities and to learn what it is to be independent [with people always close by to offer help and assistance].

The University expects all residents of Student Village to live together communally, co-operatively and responsibly and to maintain appropriate standards of behaviour while residing in the Student Village.

A substantial number of places are made available each year at Student Village for continuing residents [residents from previous years]. Consequently residents who meet the expectations at Student Village and contribute to the community may be offered accommodation for the subsequent year[s].

Currently there are 98 self-contained flats in the three-hectare Village, with up to eight study bedrooms in each flat. Most students have their own single room, but some students choose to share one of 33 twin share rooms. All the flats are fully furnished and equipped with basic cooking utensils.

The Village atmosphere is enhanced by grouping the flats around pleasant, landscaped courtyards, and by the provision of a broad based Village Program that includes academic, cultural, recreational, sporting and social functions and activities.

The rental cost for the Student Village includes all utilities and telephone rental costs.
