Airport Arrival
Murdoch University acknowledges that arriving in a new city can be quite daunting for a new student and we are committed to making your transition from the airport to your new accommodation as safe, secure and effortless as possible.
To assist you with your arrival in Perth, the Murdoch International Student Support Team has created this short guide on the different transportation options available to you from the Perth International and Domestic Airport Terminals.
Taxi
Both airport terminals offer 24 hours a day / 7 days a week taxi ranks. This is where the taxis vehicles line up waiting for passengers. All you need to do is wait in line for the next available taxi vehicle and then advise the driver of the address that you would like to be dropped off to. It is always a good idea to have the full address written down on paper so that you can easily show the driver the address and there is no confusion.
Airport staff oversee the taxi ranks so there is always someone on hand if you have any questions.
How much does a taxi cost?
It may cost you approximately $50 to get from Perth Domestic Terminal to Murdoch University and up to $75 from the International Terminal. The cost always depends on the traffic conditions on the day.
Do you need to make a booking for a taxi?
You do not need to pre-book, just look for the taxi rank signs when you exit the terminal. There should always be taxis waiting at all terminals at all times.
The most common cab company in Perth is called Swan Taxis, their contact number is 13 13 30.
Shuttle Bus
The Perth Airport Shuttle bus is called “CONNECT”
CONNECT operates from all terminals and has two different drop off locations:
• Perth City Centre
• Fremantle
How much does the shuttle service cost?
A one way adult ticket to Perth City Centre starts from $15* per person
A one way adult ticket to Fremantle starts from $33* per person
*Price is dependent on which terminal you depart from
How do you make a booking?
You can pre-book, but be sure to do so at least 24 hours in advance. If you do not pre-book, Perth Airport Connect also has a kiosk desk just inside the terminals where you can book in person. If this desk is unattended when you arrive, you can go directly to a shuttle outside the terminal and make a cash payment directly to the driver.

The bus number that you will need to take is Bus 37 and it will take you to Perth City. The journey takes approximately 55 minutes.
Please note that Transperth does not operate bus services to Perth Airport's International Terminal 1 (T1) or Domestic Terminal 2 (T2). The Perth Airport Connect shuttle service is available for passengers who wish to travel between T1, T2, T3 and T4
How much does the shuttle service cost?
It should cost you no more than $10, but it may take up to two hours with multiple connections.
How do you make a booking?
There is no way to book. You need to map your journey in advance. Here is the simplest method:
If you are at the International terminal, you must take Perth Airport shuttle to the Domestic terminal. Then exit the terminal and look for a Transperth (Perth’s public bus system) bus. This is the #37 bus line; it will take you to Perth City Centre.
After you are in Perth City Centre, make your way to the Perth main train station where you can take the Mandurah (orange color) train line south and exit at the Murdoch train station. From there, find any number of bus lines which run west along South Street to Murdoch University. Alternatively, you can walk 25 to 30 minutes to the university from Murdoch train station
