Find a course
I don't have time to study
We offer flexible degree structures so you can create a course that really suits your personality, lifestyle and career aspirations. Best of all, this flexibility makes it easier to fit your study around your work and family commitments! In most cases, you can:
- Choose to study either full time or part time, with a commitment of even one unit per semester if that's what suits your schedule - over 50% of our students have opted to study part time.
- Study externally, otherwise known as distance education. We'll send you the materials you need and you'll be able to access class notes online. You can also listen to lectures online, getting the benefits of classes without being on campus and join our online community of external students via the 'Bush Telegraph'.
How much time is enough time to study?
A good rule of thumb is to allocate 10 hours per week per unit - this includes classes, personal study, research and work on assignments. So if you'd like to study a full time load, you'll need to allocate about 40 hours per week to your studies.
Free time management courses and other facilities:
- Our Student Learning Centre offers free courses in time management, getting organised and studying effectively to help you make the most of your study time.
- You'll have 24/7 access to our library learning common and computer labs, so you can utilise the facilities when you need to, not just during teaching hours.
- Our South Street campus is only 15 minutes by train or 20 minutes by car from the CBD, so you won't need to spend hours travelling here.
If you've studied at university before or have a Diploma from within the last 10 years you may be eligible to fast track your degree through advanced standing.
We have a Childcare Centre on campus if you need to fit your studies around your children.
Studied before? You could be eligible to fast track your degree
If you've already completed some study, you might be eligible for some advanced standing, which is essentially a credit and/or exemption towards your Murdoch degree.
Simply indicate you want to be assessed for advanced standing on your online application and we will look into this for you.
