Get a great start at uni with our Foundation Units

One of the best things about being a first year student at Murdoch (apart from working your way through the menu at the Asian Food Van) is that we offer Foundation Units to help you adjust to study at a uni level.

Here’s just a few reasons why Foundation Units are so helpful:

  • The units are designed to help you out with a range of new study skills – including how to think critically, how to participate in tutorials (instead of sitting there quietly hoping nobody notices) and how to write essays at a uni level.
  • The topics covered in the Foundation Units range from science fiction and aliens to the nature of thought, so you can get your head around some pretty brain-bending ideas while you’re learning new study skills.
  • Every first year student at Murdoch takes a Foundation Unit, so you’ll have the chance to make some friends outside of your usual study area... and just imagine how handy it could be having a future lawyer, IT professional or great communicator as a friend later in your uni life!

So whether you’re arriving at Murdoch fresh from completing your ATAR, or you haven’t studied for a while, our Foundation Units are the best way to teach you how to learn – so you can make a smooth transition in your new life as a uni student!
