Meet Jess
Our official Murdoch blogger for 2010, Jess Eaton, blogs from home while listening to her favourite music. She finds inspiration everywhere. “Most recently I've been getting ideas from random conversations,” she said.
Jess reads a lot of blogs, from Perez Hilton to Sea of Shoes, but doesn’t think there’s one single factor that makes someone a great blogger. “Everyone has a different style of blogging. I think if you can get your message across clearly and find like-minded people within your niche then you’re doing something right.”
We asked Jess to tell us about:
A cause she’s passionate about:
“Anything on Stir.org.au”
Her favourite place on campus:
“Sir Walters Café and Bush Court on a nice day.”
Something she has learned at Murdoch that has nothing to do with her degree:
“Teachers were once students like me.”
Advice for bloggers just starting out:
“Forget that people might read what you write, it’s much easier to say what you want to say that way.”
Advice for first year students:
“Go with the flow, first year is about finding your feet. Stress less!”
Advice for final year students:
“Don't slack off! Its way to easy to do knowing it's your last year.”
A talent she wishes she had:
“I want to dance like they do on So You Think You Can Dance.”
Her favourite saying:
“Sing like no one's listening, love like you've never been hurt, dance like nobody's watching, and live like its heaven on earth.”
Where she would go if she could go back or forward in time:
“To a Queen concert.”
Three things she wants to do in her lifetime:
Visit the Eiffel Tower, Go sky diving and drive across America
