International exchange opportunities

Fancy studying some of your degree overseas? Participating in an international exchange is an investment in your future and enables you to live and study in another country while gaining credit towards your Murdoch University degree.

Have you ever thought about spending a year studying in the UK, USA or even Germany? Murdoch has a number of exchange agreements with overseas universities for undergraduate study which allows you to do this. Successful exchange applicants are able to study a semester or a year abroad with one of Murdoch’s exchange partners for credit towards their Murdoch degree.

The exchange program gives you the opportunity to:

  • Participate in cultural exchange;
  • Enhance employment opportunities through improved communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Undertake units not available at Murdoch University;
  • Build an international network;
  • Travel;
  • Broaden your outlook;
  • Have the experience of a life time!

To be eligible to apply for the exchange program you must:

  1. Be enrolled at Murdoch University and have completed at least two semesters of study, prior to going abroad;
  2. Have a “credit” academic average and should pass all your units in the semester prior to going abroad;
  3. Be a good ambassador for Murdoch University and Western Australia.

Planning your experience

Our Exchange partners waive their tuition fees. However, you are responsible for meeting your own accommodation costs, living and travel expenses whilst living abroad.

Conservatively you should budget approximately AU$10, 000 to cover the cost of your exchange experience. To assist with your costs Murdoch University offers a number of scholarships a year to qualified students.

Ideally you should begin planning for your study abroad experience in your first year of university study. In this way you can plan to take advantage of using your study abroad units as your general electives if possible.

As you need to save enough money to cover your return airfare, passport, visa, travel insurance, accommodation and living costs for your time overseas, the sooner you start planning and saving the better!
