Campus life

Murdoch is a place where free thinking is welcomed and encouraged. A university which takes a genuine interest in its students; and wants you to succeed.

It’s a modern, dynamic place with a true Australian feel. We have a well-deserved reputation for good teaching, exciting research and satisfied students.

Murdoch’s main campus, South Street, is 11 minutes from the Perth City Centre by train and a short connecting bus trip or walk. We also have campuses in Rockingham and Mandurah. These campuses are home to 18,000 students and 1,400 staff – and where around 3,000 overseas students from 100 countries have chosen to further their education.

Education at Murdoch is about creating opportunities for your future. We have a flexible admissions policy that provides alternative entry paths for students from non-traditional academic backgrounds. We also have an adaptable undergraduate degree structure, so you can broaden your qualifications (and your choice of careers) by taking a double – or even a triple - major.

Importantly we provide an education that encourages you to think independently and critically and that is designed to foster those qualities of imagination and independence of mind on which professional and personal development depend.

It’s often said that you can best judge a university by the research it conducts. We work closely with the community, government, industry and business in exciting and important national and international research projects. This takes our students to the leading edge of their disciplines and aligns them with current and future industry and society needs.

University life is not just about learning; it’s also about making friends, exploring new interests and, well, having fun. Murdoch not only has Australia’s biggest campus (while being the smallest public uni in WA!), it also has a very active Student Guild and dozens of clubs and societies you can join.
