Alternative admission pathways for school leavers

Murdoch ATAR RISE

We recognise that not all students have the same opportunities to help them achieve their academic potential and may have had some additional hurdles along the way.

Murdoch’s ATAR RISE is designed to help a wide range of students from regional and diverse backgrounds gain university entry through a boost to their Selection Rank for Murdoch by up to 10.00.

Find out more about the Murdoch ATAR RISE.

Entry Awards

Details on all entry awards are provided to high schools each year. In order to receive an Entry Award you will need to be nominated by your high school, unless you are applying to a Media course using a portfolio.

Find out more about Entry Awards.

Media & Creative Portfolios

Media and Creative Portfolio entry allows you to submit a portfolio of work instead of using your ATAR score to gain entry to a number of majors in the Bachelor of Artscourses.

Visit the Media portfolio entry pathway for more details and a list of courses.

OnTrack – a pre-university program

If major disruptions and problems have affected your studies in upper school – and your teachers can support your application – you may be able to apply for this free pre-uni program. Once you’ve completed the 14-week program, you could be offered a place in one of our uni courses.

To find out more, call (08) 9360 2609 or email ontrack@murdoch.edu.au.

The Murdoch University Preparation Course (MUPC)

If you don’t have the TER you need to study the course you’re interested in, this course offers a pathway to apply to study at Murdoch.
The course is run by the Murdoch Institute of Technology (MIT), but is hosted at our South Street campus, so you can make an easy transition to uni life once you’ve successfully completed the course.

For more information, visit the MIT website, or call 08 9360 1700.

TAFE

Have you considered completing a TAFE qualification as a pathway to university?

  • Certificate IV – Will make you eligible for admission into most of our courses.* ^
  •  TAFE Diploma or Advanced Diploma – May make you eligible for admission with up to one year’s Advanced Standing.*^

We take life experience into consideration at Murdoch, so you could also be considered for admission if you have a Trade Certificate and have worked in this trade.

* Chiropractic, Law or Veterinary Science are not included as these courses have different entry requirements.

^ If you are a school leaver who completed a Certificate IV or higher during high school you will also need to meet English Competency and WACE requirements.
