Electrical & Process Engineering
Right now professional engineers are hugely in demand, not just here in WA, but also internationally. As this demand shows no sign of changing in the near future, it’s a terrific time to consider Engineering as a career and discover some amazing opportunities.
And with Murdoch’s flexible study structure and ‘fast track’ degree option, you can get started in the workplace quicker and better prepared than ever before.
Building flexible degrees
Our Engineering degrees (PDF 184kb) are structured to give you flexible options to explore, including part-time study and combined degrees.
The first year of our Engineering degree (whether within the ‘fast track’ three-year or standard four-year degree) is a common course that all students do, enabling you to make an informed decision about which area you might want to specialise in.
Specialist areas include:
- Industrial Computer Engineering
- Instrumentation and Control Engineering
- Electrical Power Engineering
- Renewable Energy Engineering
- Bioprocess Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
After that, you can consider combining your Engineering degree with another subject, Engineering & Commerce for example, making you an even more desirable candidate for some awesome jobs.
Fast Track your career
We are the first university in Australia to offer a ‘fast track’ option for our high-achieving Engineering students.
If you achieve sufficient results at the end of your first year, you could be invited to complete your degree quicker. You would then study during the winter and summer terms, earning the same number of points in three years you would with a four-year degree.
Both degree options are endorsed by the State and Federal Governments and the Engineering Industry Advisory Board, and our Science and Engineering teaching is ranked as A1 in the DEST Learning and Teaching Performance Fund.
And if you’re still not convinced, Murdoch consistently achieves a 100% engineering graduate employment rate.
Recommended TEE subjects:
The following recommended subjects will provide you with a useful background if you are interested in studying Electrical & Process Engineering: Maths, Chemistry or Physics.
We don’t have prerequisite subjects for any of our courses as we are strong promoter of a well-rounded education. However, remember that you will also need to demonstrate competence in English, normally through passing either English or English Literature or by getting a sufficiently high score in ESL.
