Meet Mick CampionAssociate Professor Sociology "We humans continue to develop technological capacity but we still have much to do to find ways to better understand and hence better conduct our social relationships. "Social relationships that range from the personal and intimate, including even the manner in which we relate to each of our ownselves, through the myriad of relationships within and between various organisations to global, political, economic, cultural and environmental matters. "I see sociology as a necessary aspect of any serious effort to grapple intelligently with these matters and I feel fortunate and privileged to have the opportunity to play a part in introducing others to sociological ideas." |

Achievements
- My book on worry has been my major scholarly achievement and yet all of the issues with which it deals continue to frustrate me as much as they ever did.
- My roles as guest editor of an issue of the UK Open University Journal ‘Open Learning’ and of an issue of the Australian Journal ‘Distance Education’ persuade me that thinking sociologically about such matters has merit.
- My role as President of the Murdoch University Branch, and of the Western Australian Division, of the National Tertiary Education Union reminds me that sociological skills and knowledge can assist us in roles beyond the academy.
