Daniel's story
Daniel's Murdoch journey began in 2003. He enrolled in Computer Science, but also chose some classes in Japanese just for fun. Daniel soon realised that his real passion was in both Japanese and Philosophy.
Daniel's Asian Studies Specialist degree requires students to study in Japan on exchange.
"After returning from Japan, I overloaded for two years. I was able to take a separate degree in Philosophy, which was certainly worth the effort! In 2007, I won the Vice Chancellor's award for academic excellence and the Philosophy prize, for the graduand with the highest marks in the course".
Daniel lived in the student village for his first year. Students are immersed into campus life right from the start.
"It's a great way to settle into a new environment and make friends".
The quality of student-teacher relationships at Murdoch is something Daniel is very proud of.
"You are made to feel welcome and you are treated as an adult. You are responsible for your own education. Murdoch has a truly international atmosphere and an active campus culture. Murdoch’s flexible course selection policy means that you can be very creative with your degree. You are 100% responsible for graduating with a degree that says something about the sort of person you are”.
