About Interactive Digital Design (BMMedia)
Ever wondered how they put together all those special effects in movies? Amazed by how sophisticated advertising is getting? The world of digital design is hitting its straps, with more and more organisations utilising this technology to help communicate more effectively, not just through advertising, but on screen, gaming and online. Multimedia, or Interactive Digital Design, is a rapidly developing field of creative communicative practice.
At Murdoch, students combine studies in the elements of screen-based graphic design, 2D and 3D animation, digital media production and special effects, interactive authoring, games design and information systems design. Our course employs a range of different delivery mechanisms, from the web and CD-Rom through to DVD, mobile technologies, interactive television, and installation multimedia.
Our degree provides you with the opportunity to gain cutting-edge skills and experience in multimedia production, as well as a sophisticated sense of the cultural history and creative potential of this exciting new production field.
What can I do with my Interactive Digital Design degree?
As more and more information and entertainment is delivered in multimedia forms, there is an increasing need for technically and culturally sophisticated multimedia producers and managers. Jobs can be found in many places – from dedicated multimedia production companies and games/animation houses to traditional media organisations and the like that are increasingly involved in multimedia content creation, whether for the web, CD-Rom, DVD, mobile technologies, or interactive radio and television.
Graduates are particularly suited for careers in all aspects of the multimedia industry such as content development, art direction, and project management and, with a suitable combination of electives, for careers in the media and/or information technology fields.
