Lecturer, Physics and Nanotechnology

"I enjoy teaching because I always see how students carry out their studies to successfully achieve their ambitions and ideas in the chosen physics and nanoscience courses. I also encourage students to pursue higher levels of education, and provide valuable support for their academic research.

Nanoscience and nanotechnologies are widely seen as bringing benefits with huge potential in the areas of environment, energy resources, biomedical, information and communication technologies, and production of stronger and lighter materials. Nanoscience and nanotechnologies are highly integrative, multidisciplinary and collaborative activities.

Currently, Dr Eddy Poinern and I lead the Murdoch Applied Nanotechnology Research Group (MANRG) applying various technologies and methods to investigate the synthesis and characterisation of nanostructured and nanosized materials.

We are undertaking a number of exciting research projects, such as: nano-Hydroxyapatite, Carbon nanomaterials, a-Si nanowire photovoltaic material, thermal solar energy, electronic configuration of nanostructured materials and computational simulations of nanostructures. Some results from these researches are promising for useful practical applications."
