Develop valuable industry relationships at Murdoch
We’re proud of the strong sense of community in our School of Engineering. Our community of staff and students promote a range of networking and sponsorships which can help you make useful contacts for your future career, and act as a support network during your study.
The student body that represents our undergrad and postgrad engineering students is known as MESS (or the Murdoch Engineering Student Society) and plays a number of roles at Murdoch:
- It’s an engineering club for students and staff involved with engineering courses through the School of Engineering and Energy.
- It’s a professional development club for engineering students.
- It’s a representative body to help engineering students foster relationships with staff, organise social and professional events and help other undergrad and postgrad students.
MESS student support
MESS runs classes to help students in their studies. They also facilitate the use of the Engineering/Science common room with representatives from other clubs and societies.
MESS Corporate Sponsor Seminars
MESS organises speakers from our sponsors, such as the global engineering company SKM. These seminars focus on pursuing a career within the industry, with past graduates sharing their experiences of entering the workforce.
MESS social events
Sundowners are held twice in each semester and offer a great opportunity to relax, unwind and meet engineering students across different years. The end of year party is held in the Chiro Courtyard near the old Tavern – it’s known as MESSFEST.
