Robin McKenzie is a member of Australia's diplomatic service, and is currently posted as First Secretary (Trade and Economic) to the Australian Embassy, Tokyo. Robin's strong connection with Japan was first established during a year-long experience as a high school exchange student in 1992. It was then cemented through his studies at Murdoch University.

Robin studied Asian Studies (Japanese) and Law (LLB) at Murdoch University between 1993 and 1998. In 1994 he was selected to represent Murdoch University as one of 5 WA participants in the Hyogo "Floating University”, which is an educational experience for university students from WA's sister-state in Japan, Hyogo Prefecture.

Robin commenced work with Australia's diplomatic service, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), in February 1999. Robin's current position in Japan is his second overseas posting, following service in the Pacific island country, the Republic of Kiribati (1999 - 2002).

Robin is married with 4 children. He met his Japanese wife, Mari, at Murdoch University during her study exchange from Konan University, Japan, in 2003.
