We're working towards a more sustainable future

We take our role in helping to achieve a more sustainable environment very seriously. Here are some of the green initiatives we’ve already introduced:

  • We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Sustainable Energy Management, Sustainable Development and Environmental Science. These courses help our students develop the skills they need to find new environmental solutions and work towards a more sustainable future.
  • We’ve launched an Environment Sustainability Program to prepare for 2012, when carbon targets and mandatory reporting will be introduced.
  • We’ve signed up for Synergy’s GreenPower and are currently WA’s largest solar grid contributor, with our solar panels generating around 130kWh of renewable energy on campus every day.
  • We have joined the TravelSmart Workplace Program, run by the Department of Planning and Infrastructure and the Department of Environment and Conservation. The program has allowed us to provide shuttle buses to the Murdoch train station, establish a computerised car-pooling system, improve cycling and walking paths and provide better end-of-trip facilities such as showers, bike racks and lockers.
